Obituary Joy LaVert (Taber) Beintema, 79, of Newton, died Thursday, November 7, 2019, at Newton Health Care Center. Per her wishes, no services are scheduled. Joy, the daughter of Leon and Lucille (Cunningham) Taber, was born December 12, 1939, in Bucklin, Missouri. She attended school in Kellogg. She was united in marriage with Robert Wayne Beintema on December 20, 1957, in Bussey. Joy worked as a para-professional for the Newton School District for several years. She enjoyed being with her family and was especially happy when her grandkids were around. Those left to honor Joy’s memory include her children: Galen Beintema of Newton, Jill (Hoyt) Grimes of Newton, and Nancy (Mike) Van Peursem of Prairie City; her grandchildren: Nathan Beintema, Megan Beintema (Justin Anderson), Luke (Stephanie) Beintema, Tyler Van Peursem, and Erin Van Peursem; nine great-grandchildren; her mother, Lucille Tabor of Mitchellville; sister, Pat Brown of Mitchellville; and her nieces and nephews. Joy was preceded in death by her father; husband, Bob Beintema; son, Scott Beintema; and four brothers, David Taber, Delvin Taber, Michiel Taber, and Kirk Taber.
