Obituary Phyllis A. (Johnson) Lang, 64 year resident of Hingham, passed away peacefully November 7, 2019 at the age of 88 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her dear daughters Debra A. Bates and her husband Stanley of Norwell, and Melissa J. Mewis and her husband Robert of Hanson. Phyllis also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Garrett Bates, Alexis Kane, and Kristie and Samantha Mewis as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Merilyn Seaman of Hyannis. Phyllis was predeceased by her brother Edwin Johnson and her sister Barbara Bucknam. In November of 2014, Phyllis lost her cherished husband Bob and is now able to join him again at peace. They were happily married for 63 years. Along with the love of her family, Phyllis had another love…sports. She was an avid sports spectator and fan. Phyllis would follow sports to the point where she would even collect sports statistics that intrigued her. Watching her grandchildren in their endeavors on and off their sports fields, Phyllis supported them beyond all others present, as only a grandmother can do. A funeral service will be held for Phyllis on Tuesday, November 12th at 10:00 AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St, Hingham. Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will follow at the Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury. In lieu of flowers donations in Phyllis’s name can be sent to the American Cancer Society, at www.Cancer.org.
