Pastor Mildred Ann Loman Eason March 27 1943 June 2 2019

March 27 1943 June 2 2019
Within the annals of life as recorded on Saturday, March 27, 1943, Mildred Ann Loman was born. She was the oldest of three children (two daughters and one son) born to Clarence Loman and Ophelia Smith Loman. Mildred’s legacy and heritage among those who are sanctified is replete as a fifth-generation COGIC heir. Her roots are deeply embedded in the teachings and standards of holiness which have been passed down from her great-great grandparents up until now to her seventh generation heirs. From the age of three years old, Mildred was known and loved throughout the community because of her gift of singing in church. In 1954, when Mildred was 11 years old, the Loman Family moved to Orlando—(really it was Lakehart)—near Narcoosee. Education was always important in the Loman household. Daily, Mildred endured the hour-long bus ride to and from Lakehart to Jones High School. She attended and graduated from Jones High School in 1961. After high school, she furthered her education at Florida A&M University where she majored in Fashion Design, Clothing and Textiles. With a 20-year delay in completing her college education, Mildred went back to college. She began working as a permanent substitute teacher in 1967 at both Hungerford and Webster Elementary. While taking courses in the evening, she worked fulltime as the school secretary at Maxey Elementary, Washington Shores Elementary and Eccleston Elementary. When the principals were transferred to a new school, Mildred went with each one. Her determination paid off–she obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education from Rollins College.. Her love was always in the area of teaching “the little ones”—first graders. On several occasions, she received district-wide honors as an “Outstanding Teacher of the Year” by Orange County Public Schools while teaching at Eccleston and Dr. Phillips Elementary Schools. She was an innovative teacher and a strong disciplinarian who challenged her students to excel and never stop pursuing their educational dreams…she stressed always do your best. In 1989, Mrs. Eason was promoted to a new position as a Recruiter for OCPS’s Minority Teacher Program. In 1991, she assumed the position as Manager of the Minority and Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) for the 10th largest school district in the United States. For 17 years, she served as Supervisor of the Women’s Department for Florida Central Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. One of Mother Eason’s great opportunities was being the keynote speaker during the International Women’s Convention in 2015. She was a member the Nu Iota Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (Maitland). Since August 2011, she served as Shepherdess/Pastor of Community Fellowship Church of God in Christ, Mother’s ministry reached beyond denominational boundaries—her messages and sermons remained the same– “HOLINESS IS RIGHT!.” Mother Eason was a woman of wisdom. Her message to everyone “It’s All About Him!” For more than 40 years, she was the Senior Lady Attendant at Brinson’s Funeral Home in Orlando. She helped bereaved families through her ministry and professionalism by singing, preaching and showing compassion. A lifetime of love and precious memories will forever be cherished by her two daughters and son: Cynthia LaJuan Adams, Ida LaVette Eason (Bishop Alva) Harris and Jon LeRod (Rosalind) Eason; Grandchildren: Stephanie R. Adams (Marcus) Nieto; Jonathan A. (Samantha) Adams, Arnetta D. Harris, Tiffany M. Harris, Jammie Brown, Ashley Harrison, Gerald L. Grier, Jr., Rodriquez D.
