Carlton N. Lucas, Jr., 79, of Acushnet, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. He was the husband of 58 years to Norma (Fletcher) Lucas. Born in New Bedford, son of the late Carlton N. Lucas and Linda (Perry) Sa, he lived most of his life in Acushnet. He attended schools in New Bedford and worked as a baker at Worthington’s Bakery in New Bedford. He later owned and operated the Oxford Bakeries in Fairhaven and New Bedford. Mr. Lucas then became a CNA and worked for the St. Luke’s Hospital Visiting Nurse Association for 20 years. In his spare time, Carlton enjoyed baking, working in the yard, reading westerns and Friday night dinners at Pop Casey’s. He is survived by his loving wife; a son, Carlton “Skip” Lucas, III and his companion, Cathy Jo Lame’ of New Bedford; two grandsons, Danny and his wife Shaylene and their son, Daniel of New Bedford and Steve and his wife Kristy and their son, Jackson of Acushnet; also survived by sisters in law, Marilyn Laliberte and her husband Paul, Kathleen Wilhelmsen and her companion John Gould, Janice Martin and Jill Fletcher; brother in law, Richard Fletcher and his wife Carol; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Lucas was the brother of the late Charlotte Ramos and brother in law of the late Robert Fletcher and Michael Martin. Mr. Lucas will be cremated and his service will be Thursday, October 17, 2019, at 12 noon, in the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven. Visitation will be from 11-12 prior to the service. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven.
