Obituary of William J. Baldwin EAST GREENBUSH – William J. Baldwin Jr., 83, of East Greenbush, passed away Monday, September 16, 2019, at St Peter’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. William was born July 12, 1936, in Albany, New York, the son of the late William and Edna M. (Rhubart) Baldwin. He was a Veteran of the US Army (1954-1956) and a member of Sheet Metal Union Local #83. William is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Andrea (MaLossi) Baldwin; sons Mark (Michelle) Baldwin, John (Janine) Baldwin, daughter Michelle (Peter) Waker; five grandchildren, Ally Waker, Sophia Waker, Liam Baldwin, Andrew Baldwin and Brody Baldwin. Siblings Beverly Patrie, Frank (Andree) Baldwin and Jeanne (Dennis) Taylor and many nieces and nephews. Bill grew up in Albany and attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic elementary school and Albany High School. He joined the US Army in 1954 at the age of sixteen to help support his mother and three younger siblings. After leaving the Army, Bill worked for C.R. Joyce and then Tougher Industries. While at Tougher Industries, he worked his way through various positions to a Construction Superintendent and retired after 30 years. His building projects included hospitals, government buildings (Knickerbocker Arena), schools, shopping centers and industrial complexes throughout the Northeast. Bill married the love of his life 59 years ago this month and together they raised three beautiful children. Bill traveled the world with his bride and together they have seen over 15 different countries and have been to 4 continents. But, Bill’s favorite place to be was at his camp on Lake George that his father in-law built over 60 years ago. Bill has helped maintain and preserve the camp and it still stands today for the next generations to enjoy. There are many great “camp” memories with family and friends. Bill was an avid sailor in his younger years. Bill and Andrea had many great sailing adventures with Bill always telling Andrea to “hold the line”. Bill was a lifelong New York Yankee and Giants fan. He enjoyed coaching them from his “chair” each game. He passed that love of sports onto his sons and grandsons. Bill has made many friends along the way with his easy going manner, sense of humor and willingness to help out a friend in need. He will be especially missed by his YMCA Workout/Donut buddies and his lifelong friend Gino. Bill’s favorite times in the last 20 years of his life were those spent with his five beautiful grandchildren. Time spent at as many dance recitals, concerts, art shows and hockey games he could get to. Grandpa was always their #1 Fan. Everyone’s favorite times were those spent together at Camp on the lake enjoying the beauty of the Adirondacks and the beauty of family.
