Lila’s Obituary STEVENS, Lila Mary (Shaffer) – of Flint, MI, age 84, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Ralph Pieper and Rev. Dr. Sang Yoon Chun co-officiating. Private interment will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery on a later date. The family will receive visitors 4-8 PM Tuesday, October 1, 2019 and 10-11 AM Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Atherton United Methodist Church, in Lila’s memory. Lila was born in Turner, MI on December 31, 1934, daughter of the late Edgar and Mary (Smith) Shaffer. She attended elementary school in Turner, MI until she was in the 3rd grade. Then, her father was elected sheriff of Arenac County and the family moved to Standish, MI, where she graduated from high school Class of 1953. In 1954, Lila moved to Flint, MI where she met a boy from Arkansas, Billy Joe Stevens. Billy and Lila were united in marriage on November 5, 1955 in Angola, IN. Together they had 2 sons, Alan and Teddy. Lila was a member of Atherton United Methodist Church. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. Lila is survived by her husband, Billy Joe Stevens; 2 sons, Alan (Lynn) Stevens and Teddy (Toniette) Stevens; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Alice (John) Kammerzell; dear friend, Evelyn Herron; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Mary Shaffer; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
