John’s Obituary John D. Gerle, 67, Minot, ND, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2019, at his home. John David Gerle was born December 19, 1951, a son of Ben and Alice (Schmitz) Gerle, in Minot, ND. He was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Bishop Ryan Catholic High School in 1969. He was a Vietnam Vet, serving from 1970-72. John married Sharon Roll on April 5, 1975, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Minot. John was employed by the City of Minot Water Department until he retired in 2008. In his retirement, he enjoyed his family and his country living on a small hobby farm. John has had many blessings from the Lord his whole life, his wife, daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren, family and friends, he could count on when he needed them. Surviving family includes: wife of 44 years, Sharon Gerle, Minot, ND; two daughters, Michele (Melroy) Schei, Minot, and Angela Gerle, Surrey; grandchildren, Tyler Schei and Alexis Schei; brother, Francis Gerle, Minot; sister, Rose (Phil) Johnson, Devils Lake, ND; sister-in-law, Rachel Gerle, Sierra Vista, AZ; and a few nieces, nephews and cousins. John was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Alice; brother, Joseph and sister, Brenda Jo. Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, September 20, 2019, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Minot at 12:15 p.m. Interment: St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Foxholm, ND.
