Kanter, Gerald L., age 84, of Boca Raton, FL. (formally of Edina) died peacefully September 16, 2019. Preceded in death by loving wife of 50 years, Ruth Kanter; parents, Beatrice & Morris Kanter; and brother and sister-in-law, Burt & Naomi Kanter; sister-in-law, Marion Heimberg. Survived by companion of 11 years, Margie Guttenburg; loving children, Hillary & Dan Feder, Harvey & Robin Kanter, and Marcy & Bill Oelhafen; cherished grandchildren, Joel & Karen Feder, Hannah & Jon Kamran, Alex & Allen White, Zach & Nichole Kanter, Spencer Winson, and Maddie Kanter; great-grandchildren, Raya and Seth Feder; brother and sister-in-law, Carl & Gail Kanter; sister-in-law, Anne Trister; brother-in-law, Robert Heimberg. Jerry treasured his family and was a Master’s Level tournament bridge player. He enjoyed adventurous travel, loved chocolate cake and ice cream, dabbling in the kitchen and boating. As a father, and professionally as an accomplished Retail Chief Executive and Chairman, he taught those around him how to think, understand commitment, and persistence to achieve goals. Graveside service 11:00 am, THURSDAY, September 19, 2019, ADATH CHESED SHEL EMES CEMETERY, 3740 Winnetka Avenue North, Crystal. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, National Kidney Foundation or donor’s favorite charity. SHIVA at the home of Hillary and Dan Feder, 3300 Gettysburg Avenue South, St. Louis Park, 7 p.m. Thursday, September 19th and Saturday, September 21st.
