Summers, 72, of Herscher, formerly of Pontiac, passed away Friday, August 30, 2019, at 10:05 a.m. at the home of his niece, Jennifer, who cared for him over the past three years. Cremation rites will be accorded. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. Larry was born February 27, 1947, in Benton, IL to James William and Dorothy (Hall) Summers. He married Betty Becker on December 31, 1968. She passed away September 16, 2006. He is survived by his brothers, Charles E. Summers of DeWitt, IA and Richard (Kitty) Summers of Johnson City, IL; sisters, Patricia (Terry) Pedigo of Christopher, IL, Sue Ellen Stubblefield of West Frankfort, IL, and Roberta Summers of Plano, TX; nieces, Rebecca Cook of Brimfield, IL and Jennifer Brozis of Herscher, IL; nephew, Tim Bohm of Pontiac, IL; and great-niece, Emily Bohm of Pontiac, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; and one brother, Lee Edward Summers. Larry was educated in Benton, IL schools. He had worked for Interlake Steel for 38 plus years, retiring in 2012. Larry served in the United States Army, stationed in Colorado Springs, CO at Ft. Carson from 1967 to 1968.
