James R. Kistler, age 53, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, after a courageous fight against cancer. Jim was a resident of Bloomsburg for 40 years. He was born on Thursday, February 17, 1966 in Passaic, NJ, a son of James E. and Roberta R. (Wegrzyniak) Kistler. Throughout his younger years, Jim attended Central Columbia area schools, and later graduated from the Columbia Montour Area Vocational Technical School in 1984. Jim expanded his education by attending Lincoln Technical Institute, and graduated with a Associate Degree in Drafting Technology in 1986. On May 29, 1999, Jim married his loving wife, the former Nanci Jo Sneidman. Jim was a self employed electrician. He also worked for many years as a Salesman for various companies. Jim was a member of the St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg. He was also a member of the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge #436 B.P.O.E., serving twice as Exhaulted Ruler, Bloomsburg American Legion #273, a Charter Member of the Bloomsburg Area Lions Club and Past President, Central Columbia Football Boosters, Past President. Jim was an avid Penn State fan, Dallas Cowboy fan, Dale Earnhardt fan, and enjoyed hunting, golfing, and was a hobbiest collecting trains and cars and was an active slot car driver. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his beloved wife of 20 years, Nanci Jo Kistler at home, parents James E. and Roberta R. Kistler of Bloomsburg, two children Dakota J. Kistler and companion Jamie Niedjaco of Mechanicsburg, Renea wife of Chad Sokol of Anderson, SC, two step sons, Joshua J. Knorr and wife Sharleen of Bloomsburg, and Justin J. Knorr of Bloomsburg, a grandson, Aiden Knorr of Bloomsburg, a brother, Robert J. Kistler and wife Patricia of Richmond, KY, and a sister, Susan K. wife of Thomas J. LaRouche of Bloomsburg, along with many beloved nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Shockey. A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg. Memorial services will be conducted by the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge on Wednesday at 6:30 pm. Funeral Services will begin on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Vicar Karla Leiby, officiating.
