Allen’s Obituary Allen D. Beckwith, 70, of Crothersville, IN, passed away at 3:50 PM on July 7, 2019 in Indianapolis, IN at Franciscan Health Hospital. Allen was born July 25th, 1948 in Newberry, IN to Owen Neal Beckwith and Martha Elizabeth (Moore) Beckwith who both preceded him in death. On February 26th, 2001, he married Rose (Chambers) Beckwith in Seymour, IN, who survives in Crothersville, IN. Allen was a 1966 Columbus High School graduate. He worked at the former Evening Republican after graduating high school in the printing department as a type setter, later as a reporter and the newspaper’s photographer. Allen retired from the Laborers’ International Union Local 741 working in construction for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing bluegrass music on his banjo, bass, and hambone with spoons. Allen learned and studied about flying planes at Bakalar Air Force Base Airport in Columbus, IN. He loved the horse track, was an equine enthusiast, shared his knowledge and talked to everyone he could about horses. He adored his dogs “Wilson” and his late beloved companion “Mister”. Allen is survived by his children Lisa (Tim) Bennett of Columbus, IN, Jeffery Beckwith of Columbus, IN, Mike Barger of Crothersville, IN, Walter Barger Jr of Crothersville, IN, and Justin Barger of Crothersville, IN, 11 grandchildren, Trevor (Kaitlyn) Beckwith of Columbus, IN, Ridge (Brittany) Bennett of Edinburgh, IN, Travis Bennett of Columbus, IN, Abagail Bennett of Columbus, Derrick Beckwith of Columbus, IN, Jordan Palmer of Columbus, IN, Kloe Barger of Seymour, IN, Jadyn Barger of Salem, IN, Malakia Honey of Seymour, IN, Daniel Dotson and Madison Dotson, 3 siblings Patricia Louise Schafer of Marshall, IL, June Elizabeth (Edward) Dayoff of Columbus, IN, Robert (Denise) Beckwith of New Albany, IN ,and one brother-in-law James E. Bickley of Oden, IN. He was preceded in death by 1 sister Annabell Bickley and 2 brothers, Paul Dean Beckwith and John Owen Beckwith. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday July 12th, 2019 at Adams Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Crothersville by Rev. E. Richard Pimpleton. Visitation will be Friday July 12th, 2019 from 11:00 AM until 1:00PM at Adams Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Crothersville.
