Mr. Paul B. (Benny) Sorrells, age 71, of Rockmart, GA passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at his residence following several months of illness. He was born in Rockmart, GA on May 1, 1948 a son of the late Elias Benjamin Sorrells and the late Ruby Elizabeth McClure Sorrells. Benny was a graduate of Rockmart High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1968 to 1972 during the Vietnam War. He had worked as an engineer with Norfolk Southern Railroad and retired from the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation. Benny enjoyed farming and visiting with his many friends. Survivors include a daughter, Amanda L. Sorrells; two sisters: Nancy Raughton and her husband James and Betty S. Lewis ; three brothers: Edwin Sorrells and his wife Pam, Billy Joe Sorrells and his wife Gloria and Jesse Sorrells; a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 14, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens with Military Honors provided by the Honor Guard of Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion. Pallbearers will include: Keith Sorrells, Mitchell Paul Jackson, Danny Ferguson, Jerry Ferguson, James Raughton and Paul Lewis. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 9 pm at the funeral home. The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. Paul B. (Benny) Sorrells.
