James was born in Fulton County on September 23, 1957 to the late Terry Dean and Christine Lingerfelt Boyd. He was of the Baptist faith. James was retired from many years of construction and maintenance work. He is survived by his fiancée Serena Welch, Dahlonega and his brothers Kenny Boyd, Ronald Boyd and William Ray Boyd, all of Woodstock.
