Florence V. “Flossie” (Monahan) McKnight, 91, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born Sunday, September 18, 1927 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Mary A, (Demeir) Monahan. She was married 26 years to Charles F. McKnight who passed away April 3, 1976. Florence was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Elizabethtown, where she worked as the church secretary for over 20 years. She also enjoyed bowling, but loved most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Florence is survived by two sons: Donald P. McKnight married to Michelle, of Glenshaw, PA and Bruce McKnight married to Kathi, of Hendersonville, TN; five grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and a brother Elmer J. Monahan married to Darlene. The family would like to thank and extend their deep appreciation to Darlene for her love and care shown to Flossie. She was predeceased by two sisters Pearl A. Monahan and Ruth M. Mallanson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 904 Mill Road, Elizabethtown at 11:00 AM. Viewing will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Elizabethtown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Florence’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
