William P. “Bill” Crowley, age 78, of Rising Sun, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, April 12th, 2019. Bill was born on November 16th, 1940 to William J. & Cecila (Clark) Crowley. He spent a lot of time in his teen years showing Guernsey cows and Hampshire hogs. He spent his life farming with his dad and brothers Owen, Terry and Ed. There wasn’t a day that he wasn’t hard at work; but there was always time to tell a joke, pull a prank, or tell a story. He was a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church in Rising Sun & a fan of the Chicago Cubs & New York Yankees. Bill enjoyed family visits, especially visits from his nephews in the summer. Some of his best memories would be reminiscing about the good old days around the dining room table. Bill was survived by his brothers Edward and Owen of Rising Sun; sisters Janet Henderson of Racine, and Rosanne Aspenson of Westby; sister-in-law Marcia Crowley of Stoddard; and lifelong family friend Dale Natwick. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Julianne Nicholson, Mary Gray; infant sister Cecilia; brother Terry Crowley; brothers in law Darrel Nicholson, Alvin Henderson, Ron Aspenson, and Tom Gray. The family would like to thank the men and women of the Ferryville First Responders, Ocooch Mountain Rescue Ambulance, and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office for their fast response and care for Bill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 17th at 11 a.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church in Viroqua. Father Janusz Kowalski will officiate with burial at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Rising Sun. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow burial in the basement at St. James Catholic Church. Family and friends may call from 5-7 on Tuesday at the Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua, they may also call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
