Sylvia “Cordy” Vallejos June 26, 1925 – April 03, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Sylvia “Cordy” Vallejos, age 93, died surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at her home in Auburn, Washington where she lived for 53 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd and son, Leroy. She leaves a grieving family behind. Two sons and six daughters – from oldest to youngest: Elaine, Ed, Geno, Yolanda, Diane, Sandy, Geri and Lisa; 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson. She is also survived by two siblings – a sister and brother. And last (but not least) her little dog Chico will also miss her greatly. Born in Ignacio, Colorado on June 26, 1925, she grew up on a farm in Bayfield, Colorado with her 3 sisters and 3 brothers. She milked cows with her dad, helped her mom cook and clean and walked the proverbial three miles to school in the snow with her six siblings. As an young adult, she worked various full-time and part-time jobs and on the weekends she attended local dances. She was fun, outgoing and pretty. She loved music and she loved to dance. While at one of these dances she met her future husband, Lloyd Vallejos. They were engaged, then she waited for him while he served in the Army during World War II. After the war, they married on April 6, 1946 then settled in Colorado where their first child, Leroy, was born. Sadly, Leroy died of pneumonia when he was 3 months old. Over the years, they moved from Colorado to Washington to Utah and at each stop they added to their family. One son here, one daughter there and so on until their last daughter was born and they decided their family was complete. So they made their final move and settled in Auburn, Washington in 1966. During their years in Auburn, although Sylvia or “Cordy” as she was known to many, worked at various part-time jobs, she was mostly a stay-at-home Mom tending to her family and being “Mom” to almost everyone she met. She had many friends and relatives who would stop by and visit her often. There was always a pot of coffee, a few tortillas and tons of laughter at the Vallejos household. You were always welcomed there – she made the house a warm and inviting place to be. Eventually she welcomed grandchildren, then great-children, then even a great-great grandson into her arms. And she would have welcomed another great grandson in May. She so loved her family and friends and was so loved in return. Life was quieter in her later years. But her life was full, always surrounded by family and friends. On November 3, 2018, she lost her husband, Lloyd. Exactly five months later on April 3rd, she joined him. Three days later, on April 6th, they danced together in heaven to celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary together. She was a special lady, beautiful inside and out. She was deeply loved and she will be missed. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Holy Family Church in Auburn. Viewing at 9:45AM followed by mass at 10:30AM. A reception will be held immediately following mass. She will be buried at Tahoma National Cemetery at 1:45 PM.
