Bluefield, WV- Sonia Wolphard Coleman, prominent Bradshaw barber for 62 years, passed away Wednesday April 24th at the Virginia Veterans Care Center in Roanoke, VA at the age of 94. He was born February 26, 1925 to Noah and Mary Harmon Coleman. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Sally) Payne Coleman; daughter, Charlotte Ann Coleman; son-in-law, John Osborne; brothers, Alva Coleman, Eugene Coleman, Glen Coleman, Gleason Coleman, John (Doc) Coleman, and Noah Coleman; sisters, Juanita Whaley, Glenna Addair, and Othella Chafin. Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Selma (Bob) Sweeney of Northport, AL and Sonia Osborne of Troutville, VA; grandchildren, Kimberly (Rick) Spriggs of Northport, AL, Salena Harvey of Daleville, VA, Sean (Jennifer) Osborne of Daleville, VA and Brian Coleman of Bradshaw; great-grandchildren, Bryson Harvey, Bria Harvey, Braeden Harvey, Braxton Harvey, Coleman Osborne, Weston Osborne, and Jocelyn Osborne, all of Daleville, VA; Cody (Courtney) Coleman, stationed with the Air Force in North Carolina, and Kelsey Coleman of Princeton; great-great grandchildren, Annabelle Coleman of Beckley and Amelia Amick of Princeton; brother, Raymond (Imogene) Coleman of Princeton, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sonia served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed aboard the USS Pennsylvania in the Pacific during WWII. He was awarded three Battle Stars and two Gold Stars. A visitation will be held on Saturday April 27, 2019 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home, Bluefield, WV, officiated by Wayne Addair, nephew. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where military rites will be provided by the Iaeger V.F.W. Pallbearers will be family.
