Taft, 70, of Woonsocket, RI passed away at home on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 with loving family by her side. Born in Woonsocket, RI on June 26, 1948, she is the daughter of the late George C. and Alice (Gagne) Taft. She is survived by her brother Henry G. Taft and his wife, Claire of Forney, TX, and her brother-in-law Michael Burr of Bellingham, MA. She was preceded in death by her siblings William Taft, George C. Taft, Jr., Richard W. Taft and Gail M. Burr. She leaves her cherished, nephews, caregivers and her godson Timothy M. Burr and his wife, Jillian of Bellingham, MA, and Chad D. Burr and his wife, Stacey of Uxbridge, MA. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Woonsocket and a textile worker at Crimtex and Desmon Mills and was a department manager and ran the snack bar at Walmart in Woonsocket for many years until retiring when the store closed. In her youth she was in a rock band and traveled the country. Shirley was an active resident of Kennedy Manor. She enjoyed spending time with family and was a caregiver for many family members. She loved her dog Mia. Shirley will be greatly missed by family and friends. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 22nd at 12:00PM at CARTIER’S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA. Visiting time from 10AM to 12PM prior to service. Interment will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham.
