Sarah O’Neal December 3 1938 April 26 2019 (age 80)

Mrs. Sarah O’Neal, 80 of Quitman passed away Friday, April 26, 2019 at her residence. Mrs. O’Neal was born December 3, 1938 to the late Hugh & Eula Dukes Blalock. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church Quitman and was clerk of session and elder of the church. Mrs. O’Neal was also a member of the Hickory Head Quilting Group and Hickory Head Homemaker. She received her RN degree from Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta on a full scholarship and was past Chapter President of Association of Operating Room Nurses and was a CPR Instructor. Survivors include her children, Alton David O’Neal, Sr. of Summerville, SC, Vernon Charles O’Neal, Sr of Evans, GA, Thomas Lester O’Neal of Quitman, and Darlene Novak of Medina, OH; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and three brothers, Jimmy Blalock of Bainbridge, Thomas Blalock of Augusta, and Richard Blalock of Valdosta. Mrs. O’Neal was preceded in death by her husband, Claudius O’Neal; one brother, Hardy Blalock; and two sisters, Sue Touchton, and Faye Blalock. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Maxwell-Purvis Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Hiers officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Maxwell-Purvis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
