Robert J Steffen April 07, 1922 – April 01, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Robert J. Steffen, 96, of Peshtigo passed away April 1, 2019. He was born April 7, 1922, in Peshtigo to the late Anthony and Frances (Bernardy) Steffen and graduated from Peshtigo High School in 1940. Bob enlisted in the US Navy and served on the USS Turner as a signal man over the Atlantic during WWII. Following service he began working at Unit Structures and remained there until 1970, then Scott Paper for 1 ½ years and later Ansul until retiring in 1984. Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife, stamp and beer can collecting, doing jigsaw puzzles, hunting in Montana, and loved watching birds and the antics of the squirrels. He was a member of St Mary Church in Peshtigo, a past member of the Holy Name Society, the Men’s Choir, and the building committee. Bob is survived by Maryann Deschaine, Christine (Robert) Bettenhausen, Becca Hilden, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Thielen Funeral Home on Saturday April 6th from 1pm to 3pm. The Military 20 Year Club will perform honors at 2:45pm. Funeral Services will be held at 3pm with Fr. Jess Berdol officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. The family would like to thank Linda Nogalski and Steve Carter for all the help and care given over the years; and Dr. Nogler, Dr. Hamdan, Dr. Bosco and staff for the compassionate care given.
