Robert Douglas “Bob” Anderson, 83, of Bemidji, MN entered into eternal rest on April 5, 2019 at his home Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2019 at Aardahl Lutheran Church with Russell Nickerson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Aardahl Lutheran Cemetery, Bemidji. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bemidji. Robert was born December 26, 1935 to George and Lena Anderson in Blackduck, MN. He was the 13th child of 14. In his teens he moved to Bemidji with his parents. There he met Ione Mae Moe in choir at Aardahl Church. They married on August 3, 1957. They had two children, Peggy and Mitchell. Robert served in the U.S. Army. They farmed in the Bemidji area and he worked at Nu-Ply in Bemidji for 30 years till his retirement. He loved to go dancing with Ione on weekends following their favorite bands. He lost his beloved Ione in 2007. Later on he enjoyed taking drives to Blackduck to see how things had changed where he grew up. He also enjoyed driving into Bemidji and sitting on a street bench watching everything that was going on downtown. He always had a joke or a “true story” to tell anyone he met. He enjoyed eating daily at the Bemidji Senior Center. Robert always said he was the luckiest man. Lots of people had to travel hundreds of miles to see their kids and grandkids, but he didn’t. They lived right next door so all he had to do was drive around the country block and check on everyone that was important to him. Robert is survived by his daughter Peggy (Daniel) Nickerson of Bemidji; son, Mitch (Kelly) Anderson of Bemidji; 5 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
