Renee Hancock June 04 1936 April 03 2019

Renee’s Obituary Renee Spangler Hancock, 82, of Spearfish passed away at her home on April 3, 2019 with family at her side. She was born in Tremonton, Utah on June 4, 1936, the first born to Martin and Vilda (Housley) Spangler. The family moved to Grass Valley, California in 1944. She attended Union High in Nevada City, CA where she met the love of her life, Melford L. Hancock. They were engaged during their senior year and were married a month after graduation in July 1954. They were blessed with two sons, Rick and Martin and two daughters, Ranae and Vanessa. They spent most of their young adult lives in California followed by a move to Las Vegas, NV. They enjoyed many family camping trips and off roading. After leaving Nevada they moved to Hawaii for several years before returning to Tonopah, NV, where Renee will join her husband Mel in their final resting place. Renee was a beautiful, stylish and spirited woman with a love of music and fun. She spent much of her time in later years at social dances where she enjoyed ballroom and swing dancing. She was a skilled seamstress, sewing everything from wedding dresses to doll clothes for friends and family. Renee was an avid reader and had a great love for all animals. You would often find her in the park riding her bicycle towing her dog cricket. Being the oldest of 7 children she was a natural leader, a loving mother and provided care for many in their time of need. As well as a homemaker, she was a dental hygienist for many years and owned a small ceramic shop. She loved sightseeing and to travel and was able to visit many different places in the United States and abroad. Renee lived a full active life on her terms till the end and everyone who knew her had no doubts about her strength, will and sheer determination. “Big things come in small packages” is a great way to describe Renee as there wasn’t an obstacle in life that she didn’t meet head on and overcome. She found her eternal rest in her heavenly fathers care and has been reunited with her departed loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mel; daughter, Rane; parents, Martin and Vilda; brothers, Denis and Kent Spangler; sister, Retha Spangler and a grandson, Jonathon Hancock. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her children, Rick, Marty and Vanessa; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Julia Martin and Heidi Czappa; brother, Gary Spangler and several nieces and nephews. A family service was held Friday, April 5th at 11:00 AM at Kline Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche with Larry Langfitt presiding. An online guest book is available at klinefuneralchapel.com Read More
