Paul Wayne Briggs May 10 1924 April 10 2019

Paul Wayne Briggs was born in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina in a small house built by his father, Floyd Oliver Briggs. As a child he would run bare footed through the open fields with his dog Jack chasing rabbits. As he grew into a teenager he went to live with his mother, Stella Shelton Briggs, in New York. He got married to Isoline “Rose” Canto and they had three children: David, Janey, and Carol (who is married to Ron Davis). They had six grandchildren: Brian, Jason, Jeff, Kenny, Joel, and Matthew and ten great grandchildren. He had many nephews and nieces who all loved their “Uncle Wayne” and always stayed in touch with him (especially Gary and Sylvia). He served in both the Navy and the Army and was proud to help protect his country. He worked hard (a welder by trade) and was a good provider for his family. He loved being outside and working in his yard and tending to his many fruit trees. He loved music and singing and played the guitar. His favorite songs were Amazing Grace and You Are My Sunshine! He will be buried at Horse Creek Church of God cemetery in Chuckey, Greene County, Tennessee next to his wife Rose. Many of his family members are there too. So he was born in the mountains and will be laid to rest in the mountains which he always admired and enjoyed being around.
