Mitchell’s Obituary Mr. Mitchell Scott Corn age 63 of Collins Rd. Blairsville passed away on Thursday April 11, 2019 in the Landmark Hospital in Athens, GA following an extended illness. Mr. Corn was born on March 7, 1956 in Chattanooga, TN., the son of the late James David Corn and the late Lois Faye Hughes Corn. Scott lived most of his life in Union County and had been a builder for many years. He was a professional musician and traveled with several gospel groups, and even played at the Grand Ole Opry once. He was a martial arts expert holding several black belts. He loved playing baseball and also had worked with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for over ten years. He was a loving and caring husband, brother and uncle with a huge heart. Scott was of the Baptist faith. Surviving Mr. Corn are his loving wife of forty two years, Sharon Bowers Corn of Blairsville, two sisters, Pam Corn of Young Harris, Jennifer Corn Shook of Commerce, GA., nieces and nephews, Tiffany and Geoff Daniels of Loganville, Donovan and Emily Shook of Milton, GA., great niece and nephew, Cadance Shook and Foster Daniels, many other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held on Monday April 15, 2019 at 1:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Stacy Dyer and Rev. Bryan Mason officiating. Special music will be presented by Sandi Brock. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Ricky Dyer, Daniel Sims, Burt Weerts, Henry Chambers, Tom Dougherty, Harvey Glass, Brian Howell and Steven Dyer. Interment will follow in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Young Harris. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to help defray medical and funeral expenses in Scott’s memory.
