We find comfort in knowing that his courageous battle is done, and he is rejoicing in Heaven with his Heavenly Father for eternity. He was born on February 26, 1944 to parents James and Pauline Fox in Ottawa, Illinois and grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Melvin Studied mechanical engineering at the University of Oklahoma. His first job after college was in Mineral Wells, Texas. Shortly after he moved to the Dallas area. He was eventually employed at Don Burden and Associates as executive vice president in charge of oil field operations for the following twenty years. He was most recently employed until his death, for the past fifteen years at Mechanical Partners, Inc. as an estimator. Melvin loved working at his lake house on the weekend. If he wasn’t mowing and keeping the property beautiful, he was making wooden toys for his grandson Bryce, who he adored. He loved watching him play baseball. Bryce called him ‘Bop” and he was the best grandpa ever as he played with him every chance he had; racing cars, playing with remote controlled toys on the beach, building Legos and anything else Bryce wanted to do. A favorite of Bop’s was to take Bryce to the movies and spoil him with all the candy and Slurpee’s galore! Melvin and his wife Patsy enjoyed traveling and their trips would include both coasts to see the autumn colors, tulips and many historic sites along the way. Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Patsy, stepchildren Denise Phillips and her husband Joey and Bryan Hardin of Corpus Christi, sons Michael Fox of Los Angeles and Jeffrey Fox of Galveston, brother in law Jimmy Bankhead of Wichita Falls and grandson Bryce Phillips. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Allen Family Funeral Options and will be officiated by Reverend Clark Wheeler. A visitation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests if desired, donations be made to Community Hospice of Dallas, www.chot.org or to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org Print Obituary Sign Guestbook Name: Location: Video: Image: Light A Candle Candle 1 Candle 2 Candle 3 Candle 4 Email: Personal Message: Personal Message (required) Confirm: Submit Guestbook entry
