Mary Larson November 26 1934 March 08 2019

Mary’s Obituary Mary Louise (Bevensee) Larson, 84, Rapid City, SD passed away on March 8, 2019 at Regional Health Home & Hospice Hospice House in Rapid City. Mary was born on November 26, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN. The family lived in St. Louis Park, MN, until she met and married James E. Larson on Saturday, November 14, 1953. They were always teased by certain folks for getting married during deer season in MN. They moved to Wayzata, MN, for a time while Jim built a house for them in Deephaven, MN. Here they celebrated the birth of their daughter, Linda. Mary was a homemaker and worked out of the house a few years as an assembler. The job she loved most was teaching piano to anyone who wanted to learn, in her home in Deephaven. In November 1996, Jim and Mary moved to Hot Springs, SD. Here Mary continued to teach piano, and also found a new interest in painting. In 2007, their daughter Linda moved to Rapid City from MN, leaving the rat race behind, for a quieter life in the Hills. Mary and Jim lived in Hot Springs peacefully until Jim’s passing on April 25, 2011. A year later in 2012, Mary and Linda joined forces and moved from Hot Springs to Rapid City together. Here Mary did continue her love of teaching a few students how to play the piano and created beautiful paintings in her own art room. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother with a kind, loving heart. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Larson; brother and wife, Robert and Mae Bevensee; grandson and wife, Kristofer and Emily Mann; granddaughter and husband, Vicki and Chris Stoeckel; great-granddaughters, Keighly Mann, Tessa Stoeckel, Kayden Stoeckel, Leela Stoeckel; and many other relatives and very special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elwood and Marion Bevensee; and husband, James Larson. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary or Black Hills Human Society. Memorial visitation will be Friday, May 3, 2019 from Noon until 12:45pm at Kirk Funeral Home. Graveside services for Mary and James Larson will be Friday, May 3, 2019 at 1:30pm at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD with Pastor Brent Woodard officiating.
