Marjorie Elizabeth Spangler September 06, 1933 – April 06, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Upload Photo| Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Marjorie Elizabeth Spangler (nee: Strauss), 85 years of age, and a life time resident of Amherst, passed away Friday evening April 6, 2019, at New Life Hospice following a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 6, 1933 in Amherst. She was a 1951 graduate of Amherst High School, a member St. Peter United Church of Christ where she was active with the Altar Guild and Circle Six fellowship. She belonged to the Stone City Chapter of the Eastern Stars where she was a past matron. She also enjoyed the fellowship from her membership with Senior Citizens of Amherst. Marge was an avid bowler bowling on a league team for over 50 years. Survivors include her children Cindy Bring (Ken) and Richard Spangler, both of Amherst; grandchildren Heather Torres (Raul) of Avon, Brandy Bring of Lorain; and four great grandchildren Miranda, Miguel, Matthew, and Mikayla. . Marge was preceded in death by her husband of fifty six years, William G. Spangler, on Oct. 19, 2011; by infant brother Gerald and by her parents William C. And Marie Anne Strauss (nee Hiesser). Friends may call Tuesday April 9, 2019 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 10, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Hempel Funeral Home. The Rev. Arlen Vernava , pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Ohio. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Peter United United Church of Christ, 582 Church St., Amherst, Oh. 44001.
