Marie Fay Carlton, a resident of Highland, MI was received into the open arms of Jesus in Huron Valley Sinai Hospital, Commerce Township on Monday morning, April 8, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was 59 years of age. Marie was born in San Francisco, CA on June 9, 1959, a daughter of the late Jarold Carlton and Jean Dill. Marie is survived by her mother Jean Dill, brother Jarold, sisters Lynn Rosik, Cherie Carlton (her twin) and Michelle Dadich (Joe). She is preceded in death by her father, Jarold Carlton, Step Father, John Dill, and grandparents, Fred and Ruby Reagan and Alta Carlton. Marie graduated from Dondero High School in 1979. Marie also received certificates in sign language and a nursing aid certificate. One of Marie’s favorite memories was being in the Special Olympics with Cherie and winning medals in swimming competition. Marie was a loving and compassionate person who loved family game nights, coloring and crafts. The relationship she had with her twin sister, Cherie, was not like any other. They were close to each other from the womb up until Marie’s passing. Marie loved and adored her nieces and nephew, Tiffany (Steve), Crystal, Brittany (Rob), Brandon and Brooke (Austin) and great nieces Bella, Scarlett, Grayce, Summer and Camryn. They were her world. If you were lucky enough to be present when she gazed into their faces, the pure joy radiating from her would blind you. Marie wanted nothing more for them than to have a wonderful life. Many things people take for granted every day are things Marie could not do. Life challenged Marie in some ways emotionally, but she did not let that stop her from expressing feelings that she wanted. We saw the many things she could do. She could smile. She could laugh. She could feel so much happiness. She could love without condition. She could show her love without ever saying a word. Marie loved elderly people since she was a young age. She would do anything she could to help the elderly and for many years she volunteered at multiple nursing homes every Sunday afternoon to spend time with seniors to simply cheer them up or help them with small tasks. Marie expressed her love with a look, with a smile, and with a squeeze. She inspired others to try harder. By seeing her work hard to overcome her own challenges, it reminded others to work harder as well. She helped teach us about our own strengths and gifts in this way. Marie also taught us how to be happy because she took joy in simple things – joy in seeing her family, joy in coloring, joy in watching The Price is Right in the morning and Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy in the evening. Marie took joy in writing presidents and receiving signed pictures from them. But her favorite autograph was from Bob Barker. Marie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
