Margie’s Obituary Margie “Marge” Maureen (Maskell) Brox, age 85, died peacefully in her sleep on April 25, 2019 in Beaverton, OR. Marge was born September 26, 1933 in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, the daughter of Lyle and Mildred (Roberts) Maskell. Marge grew up in Yakima, Washington for much of her childhood. During WWII, the family re-located to Coronado Naval Base in Southern California. Her father, Lyle, was an officer in the Navy and served in the South Pacific. She often reminisced fondly about the time they spent living on the base while her father was away. During her high school and college years, she was an avid swimmer and tennis player. After graduating from Yakima High School in 1951, Marge attended Washington State University and graduated with a degree in Education. Marge worked as a junior high health and P.E. teacher for several years after graduating college. On June 20, 1964 Marge married Gene Elwood Brox in Burien, Washington. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Beaverton, OR where Gene worked for Tektronix Corporation for many years. On December 19, 1968, they welcomed their daughter, Linda. Marge was a very kind person, never missing an opportunity to send cards to friends and family, and regularly visiting elderly shut-ins. She enjoyed attending the athletic and musical events that her daughter Linda, and later her two grandchildren, Ethan and Erin, were involved in. Marge’s faith was very important to her. She faithfully attended Bible Study Fellowship, and later became connected to a Bible study at Bethany Bible Church. Marge made it a priority to bring joy to the lives of the people around her with gifts, flowers, and cards. Marge is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, Gene, daughter and son-in-law Linda and Gary Zurbrugg, grandchildren Ethan and Erin Zurbrugg, brother-in-law James Losey Sr., and 3 nephews.
