She is preceded in death by her son, Gilberto Villarreal. She is survived by her children Karla Susana Sanchez (Jorge Guerra), Nadia Liliana Villarreal (Erick Zamudio), David Garcia (Emily Araujo), Nadia Ramirez (daughter-in-law); grandchildren, Carlos Villarreal Zarate, Alejandro Zamudio, Valentina Villarreal, Erika Zamudio; siblings, Armando Zarate, Eduardo Zarate, Bertha Zarate and numerous nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends. Lucha was a loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her beloved family. She enjoyed working on puzzles, had a passion for cooking and gardening, and watching the sun rise. She was very loving and generous, always willing to help others. She came to reside in Matamoros, Tamaulipas , while raising her family. Thereafter, she came to reside in Harlingen, Texas, with her daughter Karla. She will be greatly missed.
