Leonard’s Obituary Leonard Rodger Jacobs, 82, passed away on April 24, 2019 at Fountain Springs Health Care. Leonard was born on November 24, 1936 to Robert and Doris (Enlow) Jacobs in Harper, Kansas. He grew up in Coldwater, KS, where he graduated from High School. In 1956 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in Harper, KS for basic training, then located to Rapid City. He served during the Vietnam War. Leonard also specialized in Air-Craft Pneudraulic Repair and had the honor of working on the Presidential Air Force One jet during his time stationed at Andrews Air Force Base for 5 years. Leonard retired from the Air Force in 1976 from Mountain Home AFB in Idaho before returning back to Rapid City. Leonard continued working as a laborer at A&B Welding Supply in Rapid City. He worked there for 23 years before retiring. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW and was a proud member of Fountain Springs Church. Leonard enjoyed gardening, dancing, walking, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was survived by his wife, Deanna Jacobs; his children, Jeanell (David) Hoyle of Rapid City, Rodger (Faye) Jacobs of Sioux Falls, Jodi (Mark) Ellis of St. Paul, MN, Christine Smith of St. Peter, MN, and Lori (Brett) Iron Cloud of Rapid City; a brother-in-law, Conrad Jansson of Wichita, KS; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Roberta; parents; Brother, Larry Jacobs; sisters, Roberta and Deloris Jansson; and brother-in-law, Richard Bishop. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm on Monday, April 29 at Kirk Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30 at Fountain Springs Church (West Location). Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery.
