Lawrence Larry Kim Place October 12 1934 April 13 2019

Lawrence (Larry) Kim Place, of Vista, CA, passed away April 13, 2019 at Palomar Hospital in San Marcos, CA. He was born on October 12, 1934, in Little Hocking, OH to Donald and Merle Place. He served his country as a combat veteran in the Korean War as a Sergeant in the USMC. In 1994, he retired from the Teamsters to Pine Mountain Club, CA, and he spent his time golfing, laughing with his many friends, while enjoying his hard-earned leisure. He loved gardening, reading anything he could, eating great food, and his animals, both wild and domestic. He always loved a game of chance, with poker, lottery, and horseracing among his favorites. His stories were grand and never a bore. He had more than a cat’s nine lives and never regretted one of them. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elsie Mae Place, two loving daughters, DeeAnn M. Clark (s. Donald Clark) of Simi Valley, CA and Michelle L. Place (s. Erik Gaieski) of Carlsbad, CA, son Darrell Place (s. Leigh Place) of Usk, WA, and two grandsons, Alexander Clark and Adam Clark of Simi Valley, CA. Larry would have appreciated a small donation in his name, if you are so moved, to Chihuahua Rescue of San Diego County, PO Box 300302, Escondido, CA 92030, or at: rescueachi.com/donate/ To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Lawrence “Larry” Kim Place please visit our Sympathy Store.
