At the time of her death, she was enrolled in the Doctorate of Nursing Practice Program at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and was scheduled to receive her doctorate in April 2020. After earning her Master’s Degree, Kim had a long and distinguished career as a nurse practitioner, educator, lecturer and researcher. Kim was employed by Allergan as a Medical Science Liaison. Her field of expertise was migraines, strokes, and concussions, and throughout her career she worked with neurosurgeons and neurologists at several health care facilities including Mayo Clinic, UT Southwestern, Baylor Scott & White Healthcare and St. Joseph Healthcare System. She was a frequent guest lecturer about migraines, and she was involved in numerous research projects and had several articles and studies published. Kim advocated for patients and nurses from the bedside to the boardroom, from RNs to APRNs and beyond. As a nurse practitioner, Kim was called on several times to testify before the Texas legislature on key health issues. While living in College Station, Texas, Kim held the position of regional representative to the Texas Nurse Practitioners Association and later, President of the Brazos Valley Nurse Practitioners Association. She has been an active member of TNP and has participated on several committees with this organization. After moving to Dallas in 2016, Kim became active in the Nurse Practitioner chapter there.
