Kathleen Kate Hudelson July 29 1945 April 29 2019

Kathleen “Kate” Hudelson, age 73 passed away peacefully April 29th, 2019 due to complications of COPD. She was born July 29th, 1945 in Chicago Illinois to Michael and Grace Durkin. She married Melvin Patrick Drayton in 1965 who preceded her in death in February of 2000. Ten years after dissolution of that union, in April of 1988 she married Richard Hudelson who preceded her in death in 2012. At the time of her passing, Kate’s family was present and holding her hand. Kate loved a good joke, and to tell others of her children’s adventures (embellished or not) She loved all animals but especially loved dogs, never passing an opportunity bring home a stray way too large for whatever dwelling she had. Kate spent the majority of her adult life helping the disabled secure benefits and navigating the healthcare system. A natural caretaker, she spent countless days attending to her Mother, Sister and Mother In-law during their final days. Kate is survived by her five children: Martha, Mathew, James, Leah and Douglas, and her six grandsons: Joseph, Gavin, Trinity, Grady, Atticus and Justice. A private family service will be held at a yet to be determined place & time. Cremation Rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her favorite charity, the ASPCA.
