John R. Weiser, 90, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Cedar Crest Memory Care, Janesville, WI. He was born November 21, 1928 in Chicago, IL, the son of Harold Samuel “Bud” and Geraldine (Roush) Weiser. John was a 1947 graduate of St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy, Delafield, WI. He attended the University of Wisconsin Madison and Beloit College. John was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. He married Mary E. Sheppstrom on February 18, 1961 in Old Stone Church, Rockton, IL. She predeceased him on December 26, 2003. John was the owner and operator of Bud Weiser Motors for 50 years. He was an avid runner and bicyclist for over 45 years, working out every day religiously. John was a 50+ year member of the Beloit Rotary Club with 50 years of perfect attendance. He was a Red Cross blood donor giving over 18 gallons of blood. John was a member of the First Congregational Church, Beloit Izaak Walton and was on the board of director for the Salvation Army. John was a wonderful dad, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was a very respected community leader but was also known for his unique sense of humor and stories. He truly lived his life to the fullest. Survivors include his children, Scott (Kathy) Weiser of Beloit, WI, Sue (Steve) Wood of West Des Moines, IA, Rick (Tammy) Weiser of Cross Plains, WI, and Kathy Weiser of Janesville, WI; grandchildren, Stephanie (Shaun) Longman, Cole (Sammi) Weiser, Maci (Tevin Gamble) Weiser, Lauren (Tim) Oliphant, Rob (Katie) Penn, Jonathan (Anna-Marie) Penn, Nikki (Joe) Ihus, Brodie Kaufman, Nate Kaufman, Josh Bartelt and Jake Bartelt; great grandchildren, Hayes, Wesley and Maxwell Oliphant, Evie and Madeline Penn, and Emersyn Weiser. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Nancy Weiser. Funeral service for John will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the First Congregational Church 801 Bushnell Street, Beloit, WI, with Reverend Gene Van Galder officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation of remembrance will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2019 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Visitation will also be held from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to Beloit Regional Hospice.
