Joan Spera, 81, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Hope Mills Retirement Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Long Branch, NJ, on January 31, 1938, to the late Thomas and Martha Welch. She enjoyed spending time at the beach with her family. Three years ago her grandson gave her a stuffed Snoopy which faithfully stayed by her side. Joan leaves behind, her husband of 42 years, Vince; sons, Mike Emmons and wife Kimberly of Spring Lake, Gene Spera and wife Catherine of York, SC, Garry Spera and wife Dottie of Clearfield, PA, Vincent Spera and wife Jody of Nazreth, PA; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Pepper. The date of the funeral will be determined soon. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the Alzheimer’s Association of North Carolina, act.alz.org/site/Donation.
