Mrs. Jo Trammel July 19, 1929 – April 13, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Mrs. Margaret Joan “Jo” Trammel, age 89 of Trion, Georgia passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Trammel was born in Menlo, Georgia on July 19, 1929, daughter of the late Joseph Erskin Hardwick and Minnie Chappelear Hardwick. She was a member of the Trion United Methodist Church and the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class. She, along with her husband, Frank, were former co-owners of the Turman’s Builder’s Supply in Lafayette. Among the many clubs and organizations Mrs. Trammel was a part of in the Birmingham and Gadsden area were the Model A Restorers Club of America, the Sherwood Forest Garden Club and the Birmingham First Wesleyan Church. Upon moving back to Georgia, she was affiliated with the Red Hat Ladies, the Stocking Full of Love in Walker County, and the Queen City Cruisers. Mrs. Trammel enjoyed antique clock and furniture restoration, gardening, reading, and cooking and baking for friends and family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Trammel was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Frank Trammel; and her sisters, Pauline Maxey, Mittie Bell Copeland, Foy Lee Stiles and Ann Clark. Mrs. Trammel is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Karol Trammel of Monroe, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Johnny Brimer of Trion; grandchildren and their spouses, Bryan and Michelle Trammel of Grayson, GA, Andrew and Samantha Trammel of Loganville, GA and Kayla and Matt Fortune of Summerville, GA; 4 great grandchildren, Tyler Trammel, Jackson Trammel, Shiloh Trammel, and Lucas Fortune; nephew and his wife, Dennis and Donna Clark and their son, daughter-in-law, and grandson, Bradley, Beth and Connor Clark. Funeral Services for Mrs. Trammel will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Skip Mitchell and Rev. David Autry officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gerald Graves, Brian Scott, Dickie Anderson, Keith Thomas, Danny Trammel, and Cliff Cordle. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class of Trion United Methodist Church, the Red Hat Ladies and Sylvia Graves. Mrs. Trammel will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. and on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour. The family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Trion United Methodist Church, 81 Pine Street, Trion, GA 30753, or to Hearth Hospice, 2636 Battlefield Parkway Ste. 101, Fort Oglethorpe, GA 30742.
