Obituary of Jessie Mae Ciani Mrs. Jessie Mae Ciani, 77, of Fort Plain, New York passed away Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Albany Medical Center Hospital, following a short illness. Born on March 2, 1942 in Hallsville, NY, she was the daughter of Andrew Clark and Rose O’Conner Clark. She was educated at Canajoharie Schools and was a lifetime area resident. Mrs. Ciani was a loving mother and homemaker. She was of Methodist faith. Mrs. Ciani enjoyed donating to many charities. She was willing to help out anyone in need. She also liked playing video games and BINGO. In 1980 in Fort Plain, NY, Jessie was married to Peter Ciani. He preceded her in death in 1983. Her daughter, Robin Surnear; brother, David Clark; and sister, Leona Smith also predeceased her. Mrs. Ciani is survived by her son, Michael and Dawn Surnear of Fort Plain, NY; daughter, Anna M. and Wayne Dolly of Fort Plain, NY; grandchildren, Jamie and Cory Mykel, Stacy and Jon Ellerby; great-grandchildren, Ciera, Christian, Tyler, Ethan, Austin, Dreden; sister, Barbara Knoblock of Ilion, NY; brother, James Clark of Dolgeville, NY; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 at 1:00PM at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 4:00-7:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Jessie Mae Ciani may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial & Honor Program-F, 501 St. Jude Place, TN 38105-1905.
