Harold Dean Coffey, age 76, of Knoxville, Tennessee, died Wednesday, April 24, 2019 following a brief illness. He is pre-deceased by his parents Lester Paul and Mossie Cope Coffey, brothers Maynard, Kenneth , Ermon , Vernon, Bill, sister Mabel Marie (Dot) Roberts and step-son, Nick Kennedy. Dean was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a man of faith and was an active member of Broadway Baptist Church in Knoxville where he was devoted to his Sunday School group. Dean enjoyed traveling with his wife, Ludell, and socializing at the senior center where he was a master at Rook. He was retired from Old Dominion Freight Lines where he was proud of his over a million miles driven without a single accident. An avid fisherman and collector, he also loved all things aviation. He was a jokester with a great sense of humor and often referred to as “Buddy Ol’ Pal” by his grandchildren Caitlyn and Zach. He is survived by his wife, Ludell Neill Coffey, son and daughter – in- law Steven Dean and Marcy Coffey , Stepchildren and spouses, Neill and Patricia Kennedy , Phillip Blair Kennedy, Margaret Jane (Jennie) and Al Tate. Also survived by grandchildren, Caitlyn and Zachary Tate, Jessica Parrott, Bradley and Michelle Parrott, David and Brandi Schofield , Loyce and Bill Shipman . Great grandchildren, Steven Lee and Rebecca Lynn Shipman, Kennedy Danielle, Olivia Grace and Alice Victoria Parrott, Gabriella Schofield. His grandchildren were some of Dean’s favorite people. He is also survived by his sister, Faye Spurgeon and her family, brothers, Wayne and Truman Coffey and their families. Family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home, 203 S. Horton Parkway, Chapel Hill Tennessee from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday April 28, 2019. Graveside services and interment at Allen Cemetery Monday, April 29, 2019 at 11:00 am with Pastor Tim Turley officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be all of those precious to Dean that filled his circle of life, bringing him joy, including his brothers, sons, children and grandchildren as well as his Church Brothers and Old Dominion Buddies.
