Guy Bates Nichols, 91 of Powder Springs passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 22nd at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Acworth with Rev. Mike Maxwell officiating. He will lie in state at the Church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM on Monday at Georgia National Cemetery with military honors. Guy was survived by his loving wife, Christine Nichols of Powder Springs; three daughters, Dawn Neal of Canton, Christy Massey and her husband, Robby of Woodstock and Mandy Bond of Woodstock; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Judd and Dussie Nichols; brother, Cecil Nichols; daughter, Nancy Jeffcoat and stepson, Michael Cramer. Guy was a lifelong resident of Cobb County and served in the Army during WWII. He was a member Hillcrest Baptist Church, Samuel Lawrence Lodge, and the Yaarab Temple in Atlanta. He owned and operated Gem City Auto Parts for over 35 years. His joy in life was his family, friends and working everyday as well as working in his shop. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM till 7:00 PM on Saturday at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Acworth. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, Community Outreach Program, 6069 Woodstock Road, Acworth, GA 30102.
