Greg’s Obituary Greg Johnson, age 71 of Blue Earth passed away Friday April 26, 2019 at St. Luke’s Care Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Gregory D. Johnson was born October 24, 1947 in Fairmont, MN to Cleighton and Agnes (Olson) Johnson. He attended Huntley elementary school. In the 5th grade, the family moved to Blue Earth. After graduating high school, Greg moved to Los Angeles to attend Northrup Institute of Technology, where he received his Airplane and Powerplant Certification. He worked for Flying Tiger Airlines as a mechanic. In 1968, he enlisted in the Navy where he was a radar operator on a P-3 airplane. They were involved in patrolling the Atlantic. Their sector monitored ship activity to Cuba. He then worked in Maine on snowmobiles and motorcycles and finally in Minnesota on combines, tractors, trucks and semis. He was a gifted mechanic and loved diagnosing engine problems. He is survived by his wife, Maggie (Reko) Johnson, son, Jay (Jen) Johnson, grandsons: Caleb, Ethan and Aidan of Blue Earth, sister, Paula (John) Barseth of Rochester. He was extremely proud of his family and just hearing about them made him smile. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Luke’s or Hope United Methodist Church would be appreciated. Read More
