Gene Bolling, 86, of Bolivar, MO passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at his home in Bolivar, MO. Gene was born January 19, 1933 in Cherryville, MO to Basil and Golden Eaton Bolling. As one of nine children, Gene lived his life by educating himself through hard work. His efforts and determination landed him a job as an airplane mechanic for Boeing, where he spent 37 years. His work allowed him to retire at 55 years old. Of all that Gene built and worked on at his time for Boeing, he was most proud to have built the F-4s used during the Vietnam War. Gene was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish with little regard to the season. He also had a love for gardening, and worked diligently on raising tomatoes. Gene also loved his family a great deal. He loved to give those close to him nicknames that would often stick for life. He brought smiles to peoples faces with his one-liners. He also greatly loved his church family, and served them faithfully as a deacon. Gene is preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Bonnie Maudine Bolling, as well as his parents, Basil and Golden Bolling. Gene is survived by his son, Mike Bolling and wife Linda Doolittle Bolling of Bolivar, MO, and daughter Marlene Price and husband Doug of Bolivar, MO. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Michael Bolling, Jr., Angela Portell, Steven Price, and Tyler Price, as well as 2 step grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, three sisters, and one brother, along with a host of other family and friends. Memorial contributions can be made in Gene’s name to Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Funeral Services for Gene Bolling will be held Friday, April 26, 2019 at 11 AM at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO. Visitation will be held an hour prior.
