Fay Leanne Masters February 08, 1940 – April 06, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Fay Leanna Masters, née Riphagen, died peacefully at home on April 6th, 2019 in Black Diamond, Washington at the age of 79 surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Fay is survived by her children, Leigh and Lisa Masters, and her grandchildren, Jared and Kendall Wold, all of Maple Valley, Washington and one of seven siblings, sister, Sharla De Jager of Iowa. Fay was born on February 8, 1940 in Maurice, Iowa to Gerrit Henry Riphagen and Henrietta Johanna Marel. Shortly after graduating from high school, Fay moved to Long Beach California, and began a lifelong career at Pacific Bell as a telephone operator then management where she eventually retired from at the age of 57. In 1963 Fay married Robert Edgar Masters and had twin girls, Leigh and Lisa, moving to the Bay Area where they raised their children. After divorcing in1982, Fay remained in the Bay area, then moved to Sacramento, California, then to Washington to be close to her daughter/s and grandchildren. Fay loved music, was in several choirs, had an extensive music collection and would break out in spontaneous song at any given moment. Fay also loved the movies, reading, a scenic car ride and anything with paws. Fay was the heart of her family; loving, warm, and always generous with her time and attention. In particular, Fay was a doting Grandma and favorite grandparent who thought her grandchildren were the best and the most beautiful grandchildren who walked this Earth. Fay was active in her grandchildren’s lives, from cuddles to playing games to every school activity and function. Fay will be dearly missed by her family whose spot as a loving, caring, warm, and accepting mom, grandma, woman, and citizen cannot be rivaled. A private funeral is scheduled at Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent, WA on April 18, 2019. Condolences can be sent to the Klontz Funeral Home website.
