Evelyn Pitcher Young July 13, 1922 – April 18, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Memorial Donation CORINNA & BANGOR – Evelyn Pitcher Young, 96, died April 18, 2019 at her Bangor residence. She was born July 13, 1922 in Framingham, MA, a daughter of Jacob and Ruth (Gray) Bemis. She moved to Corinna when she was 4 years old and graduated from Corinna Union Academy, Class of 1940. She married George Pitcher in New London, CT on February 14, 1942. Evelyn and George worked together in the corner service station in Corinna until it was sold. She was then employed by Corinna-Newport Insurance Agency for 17 years. George died on October 31, 1986. She was a lifelong member of the Corinna United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school. She was also a life member of The Order of The Eastern Star and past matron of the Corinne Chapter, OES, Corinna; and past matron of the John R. Chase Chapter, OES, in Carmel. She also taught sewing classes with Dora Littlefield for the University of Maine Extension, and was a Girl Scout leader in Corinna for a number of years. Evelyn married Edward Young of Bangor on January 22, 1994. Following his death she went to live in Florida before returning to Maine. She is survived by a son, Peter and wife Jane Pitcher of Etna; a daughter, Ellen Pitcher and daughter in law Rebecca Pitcher, both of Corinna; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by a son, Gary Pitcher; sister Virginia Dyer; brothers Jacob Errol, Elmer and Stanley Bemis. Graveside committal services will be held at Morses Corner Cemetery, Corinna, later in the spring. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna.
