Mr. Evan Coolidge Smith age 94 of Barbourville, KY departed this life on Thursday, April 25, 2018 at Diversacare of Claiborne in New Tazewell, TN. He was the son of William and Virgil Mae (Lewallen) Smith, born to them on November 15, 1924 in Barbourville, Kentucky. On May 13, 1946, he united in marriage with Norma Shearer Smith and to this union three children were born. Coolidge was a member of the Little Poplar Creek Baptist Church. He was a miner and logger. He is preceded in death by his wife Norma Shearer Smith and his parents William and Virgil Mae Smith. Left behind to mourn his passing are son Evan Keith Smith and wife Gwendolyn of Barbourville, Kentucky, daughters Janet Wilder and husband James ‘Dickie’ of Corbin, Kentucky, Wilma Girdner and husband Ike of Cincinnati, Ohio, granddaughter Angela Roden and husband Eric of Alabama, and great-grandsons, Eric and Evan, sister Helen Mills of Winchester, Kentucky. He also leaves behind a host of many relatives and friends to mourn his passing. His faith and his family were the most important thing in his life. Funeral services for Mr. Evan Coolidge Smith are incomplete and will be announced at a later time. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
