Eugene “Gene” E. VanZandbergen, 87, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, passed away, Friday, March 29, 2019 at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas. He was born on November 13, 1931. Gene was united in marriage to the Late Kathyrn Benge in 1949 and from this union three children were born. Gene came to Horseshoe Bend in 1997. After retiring in Illinois, he worked at Walmart for 17 years in the photo department and loved every day of working. He was wed to Rosemary Hearron on June 19, 2005 at Faith Presbyterian Church in Horseshoe Bend. Gene was a faithful member of the choir at Faith Presbyterian Church. He was an avid bowler and golfer also a lifetime member of the Master Gardeners. Gene is survived by his wife, Rosemary; sons, Daniel and George; daughter, Sally and sister, Virginia. Memorial service will be held on June 8, 2019 beginning at 11:00 AM at Faith Presbyterian Church. Arrangements entrusted to Doty Family Funeral & Memorial Service of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas.
