Emma’s Obituary Emma Jane Stoner, 86 formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away Friday, March 29, 2019 at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle. Born April 26, 1932 in Carlisle, PA, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Pearl (Brehm) Garman. Emma was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School Class of 1949. She assisted in the daily tasks of the Stoner family farm and was a former employee at Fry Communications and Giant Foods both in Mechanicsburg. Emma was a member of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church, the Women of the Moose #410 Middletown, the Farm Women’s Group, American Legion Post 109 and the VFW Post 6704 both in Mechanicsburg. Emma enjoyed gardening, bowling and loved dancing. She was a member of the Capital City Polka Dancers Association and attended Arthur Murray Dance Studio. She was especially fond of square dancing and ballroom dancing. Emma is survived by her four daughters Rebecca Fahnestock (Steven), Jennifer Jones (Neal), Elizabeth Hulse (Morton) and Cinderella Gayman (Brian); 9 grandchildren Jill Fahnestock, Jamie Hoffman (Doug), Dawn Fahnestock, Jona Aldis, Holly Updegrove (Dave), Danielle Vattimo (Nick), Adrienne Hantz (Russell), Juliet and Joshua Hulse; 5 great grandchildren Brielle, Levi, Jesse, Cheyenne, and Sophia and a dear friend Rosie Jacobs. Emma was preceded in death by her sister Mary Cook, her two brothers William and John Garman and by her grandson Thad Gayman. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
