Elsie W. “Dean” Cartwright, age 76, a resident of Old Fort, passed away Friday in a local health care facility. Dean, as she was affectionately called, was the daughter of the late Cleo Waters Beard and John Beard. Her sisters, Pauline Messer and Abigail Beard and her brothers, Gene Beard and George William Beard also preceded her in death. Dean was retired from Wal-Mart on Dalton Pike, serving 15 years as Deli Clerk. She loved to sew and work in her vegetable and flower gardens. She was very friendly and never met a stranger. Dean was a member of the Boanerges Baptist Church where she was very active. Survivors include her daughter, Nikki Cartwright and her husband Brad Coriell of Knoxville, her son, Michael Cartwright and his wife Linda also of Knoxville, her granddaughters, Schuyler Murdock-Cartwright and her companion, Kortnie Cartwright and Livingston Murdock-Cartwright and several nieces and nephews also survive. The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 1:00 P. M. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel with Pastor David Disney officiating. Interment will follow in the Boanerges Baptist Church Cemetery with family and friends serving as casket bearers. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 1:00 on Tuesday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
