Despina Manousogiannakis June 20 1944 April 3 2019

Despina Manousogiannakis Our sweet “MaMa” couldn’t go on any longer without our dear “Baba.” This was their engagement picture. They were so in love: full of hope, a promise and a future full of adventure in a new land: Ameriki (America). Our sweet mom who taught us how to love and nurtureā€¦ who bought us our first Bible and raised us to love Jesus, opened her home to strangers and made them family. Our sweet mother who taught us hospitality (she loved to cook) and authenticity….is gone. She’s with my dad whom she told us she missed to the very core of her being. She longed for him daily. I love you both Mama and Baba. I resent death. I miss you our sweet little Mama. I’m glad you’re together again but our life is forever out of balance without our beautiful parents who gave us passion for God, Greek cooking, love for people, and our strong culture. Here’s to all the dreams you had when you started off together. Here’s to the beauty of your love story. Thank you for everything you did for us and your family. How you loved Mark (Eleni’s spouse) and how you adored our child. I will remember your warm soft embrace Mama and your sweet tender kisses on my cheek. I will miss how when we were kids you’d let us curl up in your bed and tell us Greek fables. I will miss the times we baked Greek cookies with you and waited in anticipation to gobble them up when they were done right George? We will miss our daily phone calls, the sound of your voice……We lost so much because you gave me so much. You loved deeply. You loved us and you loved Sefra (George’s daughter) so much. Your world revolved around her for years. George and I remember when she was born you and Baba looked like you had won the most amazing million dollar lotto. Hannah Elaine and Brian. She loved you like her second children. Margaret Ann thank you for being part of our family. She loved your children. They gave her meaning. She loved being a nurturing Mama, You poured out your heart and nothing I say or do could ever come close to being able to repay you for the amazing generosity you showed me by loving me and my family. Se agapo. Love, your son George, daughter Eleni and your two grandchildren. For those of you who knew my parents and the love and generosity they held in their hearts, please come say your goodbyes. Many of you did not have a chance for a final farewell with my father so to you I say you are welcome to come pay your final respects. My mom’s casket will be closed. There will be a picture of her and my dad on her casket. She will be laid to rest next to my father. She could not live without him. Now she will always be with him. Friends and family will be received Thursday, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) Funeral service will be at the funeral home Friday at 1 p.m., with visitation starting at 12 noon.
