David Stanley Grimes, Jr went home to be with the Lord, after losing his long, hard fought battle to diabetes and kidney failure, on Sat. April 20, 2019. David leaves behind his wife of 19 years Sommer (Bushong) Grimes, two beautiful daughters Kylie, 18, and Kenna, 11, whom he was immensely proud of, his Father David Sr. (Denise), Mother Wanda Neace, Sisters Lisa Clark (Jerry) and Ashley McVay (Casey), Grandmother Peggy Grimes, Mother and Father in Law Bob and Sheila Bushong, Sister in Law Shauna Bigelow (Ed), Niece Cali, Nephews Brenan, Lance, and Brantley, his dog Stanley, and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and even more friends and “bonus kids”. David was preceded in death by his Brother Jonathan Melton, Grandfather Stanley Grimes, and Uncle Lynn Grimes. David was born in Opelika, AL ,on May 1, 1976, and moved to Florida in 1996. He worked for many years building windows for PGT and JeldWen, before becoming disabled. He loved to spend his time fishing, spending time with family and friends, and watching University of Alabama football. His greatest source of pride and joy was the many years he spent coaching Miss Venice Fastpitch Softball. He loved being “Coach Dave”, and had a special relationship with every girl he ever coached. He made such an impact on each and every player he coached through the years. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to please register to be an organ donor.
